[Update: 6:10pm] As suspected, Capcom has confirmed to Shacknews that Dead Rising 2 will include all Games for Windows Live features, including achievements and online matchmaking.
[Original Story] In response to a post on its official forum regarding a retailer listing for the upcoming zombie-killing sim, Capcom's Christian Svensson (aka "Sven" on the Capcom forums) confirmed the PC version of Dead Rising 2 will "use" Games for Windows Live.
"Yes," Svensson wrote, "[Dead Rising 2] uses Games for Windows Live." Svensson added he didn't "feel bad" confirming the news since the game's official box art features the Games for Windows Live branding.
The comment and use of "Games for Windows Live" rather than "Games for Windows" (which is a certification distinction) implies support for the service's Xbox Live-inspired features, including achievements and matchmaking. Capcom has previously utilized Game for Windows Live features in Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV and Dark Void.Shacknews has contacted Capcom to confirm all Games for Windows Live features are included with the PC version of Dead Rising 2 but has yet to hear back at the time of publishing.
Well, the first one had its moments. But it had a bad choice in save systems, and some of the "rescue missions" were more like "GO HERE TO DIE!" missions, but it did some things right. Introducing Frank West was once of them - he's covered wars you know.
