Has anyone seen Rage live? Judging by the screenshots the game looks very good, but not exceptional

It looked amazing in motion, it never ever once hitched or dipped in framerate. I've never seen a game keep such a high level of visual quality at 60fps, and it was running on an XBox.

Wow, I'm excited! I remember Carmack saying Doom 4 should look much better than Rage because they're running in 30 fps in twice the detail.

Technically, it looked amazing considering it was a 360.

Gameplay wise, it looked like the same shit as always, but in the desert instead of Mars.

Gameplay is a different subject, I was only discussing visuals.

Muddy, brown, colorless textures... What else is new in their world?

Which type of Id's gameplay do you like? Doom, Doom 2 and Quake played completely differently to Quake 2 and Doom 3. The first three being fast, action packed and fun, the later two being slow, boring and totally shit. I hope it's the slow, boring and totally shit type of gamplay you like because it looks like that's what Rage will deliver.

Same shit? Customizable stuff, car combat, and deployable turrets = same shit?

The actual gunplay segments didn't seem all that inspired.

The gunplay segments seemed so much better than the mediocre shit that passes as shooters in the last years .

And in what other id game you had exploration, trade, car combat, races, upgrades, decent characters, items, etc?

The gunplay scene I saw showed a guy running throw corridors and shooting mutants, I was underwhelmed a little bit too. The outdoor and car scenes looked great. I wonder how good the racing will be.

Screenshots don't really do this game justice, even though some of the screens look really good. The shear amount of detail in the envrionment is truly stunning. You will see reflections in the puddles, water spraying on to your screen, dust blowing around, brushes swaying back and forth...all while going a silky smoothe 60 fps. The demo was being shown on a huge screen...well over 60" and it still looked so crisp and sharp. The only thing that sucks is that we don't get our hands on this game until another year...Hopefully it's early 2011...
