[Update: 06/02/2010 - 9:00am] PlayStation Canada has informed Shacknews that, like its American counterpart, the Canadian video store will see weekly updates. We were also informed that Sony is aware of the issues plaguing the video story and is working to rectify them.

[Update: 6:00pm] PlayStation Blog reveals that, between July 1 to July 14, Canadians can get a free standard definition copy of Charlie's Angels for visiting the Canadian PSN Video Store. Yes, a free copy of the great Canadian classic, Charlie's Angels.

[Original Story] Starting today, Canadians have access to their own PSN Video Store on the PS3 console; however, the new feature has launched with a slew of crippling bugs. The most glaring issue is missing content and download errors.

Although television shows like AMC's award-winning Breaking Bad like are listed, episode rental pages will not load. We also tested renting films that were properly listed but encountered issues. (Download tests of game-based PlayStation Store content worked as normal.)

The Canadian PSN Video Store features films from a variety of studios such as 20th Century Fox, Disney, Sony Pictures and, Paramount as well as television programs from AMC, HBO, the NHL Network, and NBC. Rentals range in price from $5.99 (HD) to $4.99 (SD) for movies and from $1.99 (SD) to $2.99 (HD) for television episode purchases. Select films are also available for purchase.

It is unclear when the errors will be fixed and how often the Canadian video store will see content updates. Shacknews has contacted PlayStation Canada for more information regarding the launch but has yet to hear back at the time of this publishing.
