Gran Turismo 5 Screenshots Go Nurburgring

11

All three courses of the Nurburgring, "Europe's most iconic racetrack," will be included in Gran Turismo 5, publisher Sony Computer Entertainment and developer Polyphony Digital have announced--a revelation celebrated in the form of eight new screenshots.

There's still no word as to exactly when the PlayStation 3 exclusive simulation racer will arrive, though Sony has previously pledged that it'll be out before the year's end.

it's cuz that lead designer guy isn't happy with his game yet, and is probably contemplating starting over from scratch.

It is strange. However, I have always felt that Forza controls better, but everything else is better on GT. The car selection has always been better, the career was really cool with the applying for licences, and it was just really cool. I remeber from GT4 that you could wash your car, which was cool. I hope that all these delays will make this the best GT there has ever been. Period.

P.S Most likely, though, my next vehicle-based game purchase will be TDU2 (Test Drive Unlimited 2).

I would'nt count on that. MS has said they have a lot of life left in the 360.

Well, Polyphony did invent the genre as we know it nearly eight years before Forza (1) even showed up to the table, so I think that counts for something. It is bewildering that there wasn't a GT available at launch for the PS3, though.

Road and Track Presents.. Still think about playing that some more must for nostalgia, but then I just play more Forza.

The genre? What genre? Racing sims? Definitely not. There were racing simulators long before the PSOne was even a twinkle in someones eye.

I think Gran Turismo was the first racing sim featuring hundreds of street-legal production cars. Before that, there were Formula 1 sims, NASCAR sims, and maybe some other types, but nothing with "normal" cars, afaik.

Turn10 use 3D artist contracting studios... plus lesser atmospheric and graphical quality. GT5 does it all in-house and tries to make things damn near perfect looking. I absolutely love Forza, but they could work on a lot of areas....

In a nutshell GT would have been out. After seeing what Forza did they had to go back to the drawing board. Couldn't just do GT4 with prettier graphics

Probably a number of reasons, and from the sounds of it, "feature creep" is a huge one. I think they keep wanting to make "THE PERFECT RACING GAME" for PS3, and it's hurt them more than it's helped. Forza devs were probably a little bit more sane in their goals...
