Published by 2K Games, Red Dead Redemption is headed to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 18 in North American then May 21 internationally, delayed from April.

Forgive me for asking unholy donuts - but why not pre-order? I mean, you say that your still getting the game - alright, good. But pre-ordering won't won't hurt; you or your wallet in anyway; your still paying the same amount but when you pre-order your just getting a few extra freebies.
On the flip side I can see why you wouldn't because a lot of people have the high notion that you can walk in on release day and pickup a copy off the shelf.-
I like when people post things like this. You make some good points. I'll try to explain, in a manner that's a bit less "bitchy" (thanks zuff :).
I don't like the idea of having content that's exclusive to a single store. I understand that I've got options, with all the different pre-order bonuses for big games from different stores, surly I could find something I like. Golden guns are not for me, and neither is some XP boost, but the idea of new missions and things like that excites me. A new horse maybe? I could even get behind that. Something that's actually useful/at the very least fun to use in game.
I could mention how Gamestop really turned me off to pre-ordering, but that'd be making excuses. There are plenty of places that aren't Gamestop that I could pre-order from, still the idea that some retailers are hoping you'll forget about your pre-order, and the money you placed on it, doesn't sit well with me.
I'd probably pre-order from Amazon, if I did pre-order, because they seem to have the best deals usually.
I would like to address your last point. I *can* walk into a store on release day and pick up a copy. Doubtful if off the shelf, no one keeps those high priced jewels out in the open anymore, but I live in an area populated by no less then 3 Gamestops, 2 Walmarts, 2 FYE's, 2 Targets. Do you see what I'm getting at? Iol there are so many stores near me that sell games, I never worry that I won't find something on release day.
Hope I sorta explained why I don't pre-order usually/like pre-order bonus content, and I hope I wasn't too "bitchy" for some of the lot of you.-
EDIT: So there is a horse. Looks like I'll have to eat a few of my words there. And maybe add that I wouldn't pre-order for "horse armor" but I would consider pre-ordering for the horse.

I understand. I made a similar post a while back about exclusive content with Gamestop that was more than just "skins" like this game is doing with Amazon. And that does bother me.
1) I never shop at Gamestop anymore anyways
2) Amazon delivers on Release day and I usually save about $5-10 every time, plus I have a Prime account so I get free shipping.
