Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake will at last be released in Xbox 360 form on May 18 in North America and Europe on May 21, developer Remedy and publisher Microsoft announced today, after over five years in development.

Pre-ordering Alan Wake from a participating retailer will net players the 'Bright Falls Bonus Pack,' which offers "avatar gear, an Xbox LIVE theme, and a 'making of' video." Packed into the so-called "hardcover bookshelf-worthy" limited collector's edition will be "bonus discs of behind-the-scenes footage, exclusive in-game commentary and hints from Remedy, a game soundtrack, 'The Alan Wake Files' book, and more."

Plans for a PC release of Alan Wake are still "up in the air," though PC was initially the only confirmed platform for the Max Payne creator's "psychological action thriller."
UPDATE: Microsoft has since confirmed Alan Wake will not be hitting PC.

The new trailer below was released at Microsoft's X10 event in celebration of the news. In addition, we've got new preview of the game, based off a recent demonstration.

Especially since this really looks like one of those Crysis-like game that can give your PC a run for its money.
