Dead Rising 2 Due This Year, Movie Planned

7
Capcom today narrowed down the release window of Dead Rising 2, vowing that the sequel it describes as "Zombie Paradise Action" will arrive sometime during 2010.

While vague--the company offered no additional details regarding dates or specific territories--the timeframe still comes as good news to zombie-slaying fanatics, as Capcom previously said it was due by March 31, 2011.

[UPDATE 1/31/09] Capcom has clarified that the 2010 target is worldwide. [/UPDATE]

Unlike the first Dead Rising, which was developed internally at Capcom and exclusive to Xbox 360 and followed years later by a TOSE-helmed Wii de-make, Dead Rising 2 is coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with development marking a "collaboration" between the original team and The BIGS developer Blue Castle Games.

And, hey, bonus, Capcom also passed along word of a new live-action film based off the franchise, dubbed Zombrex: Dead Rising Sun, with a wonderful trailer just below:

Hopefully they don't screw this up, and at least make some improvements over the original. One of my favorite games regardless of the flaws it had.

they could rehash the first game and add a better saving mechanic and that'd be enough for me

I never had a problem with the save system, I am one of those that liked it and supports it because it made the game more tense. The only thing I think that might help is not have the entire story be an instant fail if you fuck up, rather have more branching possibilities if you miss something. But being able to save/redo areas that you mess up makes the game a lot easier and changes the atmosphere IMO.

Indeed, IMO only pussies didn't like the save system.

I always thought that it would be cool to kill every single zombie in town. I'm talking about the entire population plus any rescuers/cops that got turned. There was a population of around 5,000 I think but I know that I killed more than 30,000 overall.
Of course, one gets away to infest another area that must now be 'cleansed,' and so on...

There was an achievement for killing 54000 something, that would be awesome to clear all of them out.

they actually show a population sign in the intro cut scene, and you get an achievement for killing that many zombies. 50k+.

there are always more zombies to kill, however.
