Evening Reading: Right in the Middle

Evening Reading is here for Wednesday, meaning there are fewer chatty posts ahead of us this work week than there are behind, or an equal number I guess if you count this one. Garnett is in Vegas checking out all the technological wizardry of CES 2010. He will surely regale us with tales of 3D television sets, home media servers that also function as popcorn makers, multi-touch OLED capacative laser pointers with built-in terabyte thumb drives, and who knows what else. Oh yeah, and there might even be a few game-related news items to come out of the show.

But why wait for tomorrow's news when you can read the exciting news of today?

I'm looking forward to the next Zelda. Hope it's cel-shaded. =P

I hope it has at least one poorly-drawn animated cutscene with awful voice acting.

I want another Wind Waker. I didn't like TP too much.

Nice, I loved how the sailing was made easy. Wind Waker really pissed me off after awhile. I hope one day they release like a Director's Cut of WW with improved sailing.

It felt clumsy to me. The fighting system just didn't feel smooth to me either.

TP had a better dungeon plan, but WW had a much better narritive and style.

No 3-D Zelda has been good. Link to the Past and then 4-Swords. So says I.

You have no say in the discussion then, although the games you mention are indeed awesome. 3D Zelda is just a different game, you can't play them expecting them to be better than the 2D ones, it's just simply not comparable.

look how wrong you are! Wind Waker was the best Zelda game in the series, minus the triforce hunt near the end. the only thing it lacked was another dungeon or two, otherwise it was almost perfect!

That's one of the reasons I love it. It is like living in a cartoon. It fits the theme and Zelda story perfectly, I believe.

Yeah I'm the same way, I didnt like WW at all. But it might be I didnt like the world mainly. Too much sailing and not enough land exploring. When they showed the old hyrule in black and white I was so happy until it didnt let me go there. :(

I miss how fun ALTTP was. The ability to travel into the dark woods so early in the game but not get the master sword was both frustrating and made the game more addictive. 3d zelda and ds 3d zelda attempts haven't captured the original feel of broad exploration for me. They tend to localize the game to specific areas and purposes. I enjoyed the island aspect of WW because there were islands you didn't need to go to but were fun to find.

Wind Waker is one of those near 100% games with how well every aspect of it came together. Gameplay, graphics, music, story, and everything else. It's flaws are very minuscule.

I say TP is more of an 85% game, the music was pretty bad given what they were capable of before with WW and other iterations (like smash bros). I dunno why they had to limit your spin attack in the Wii version where the GCN let you do it unlimited.

I hate Zelda threads for the sole reason that Majora's Mask is my favourite and that automatically nullifies my opinions on the matter :(
