Star Trek Online Screenshots: Phasers! Pew Pew!

With the early 2010 launch of Star Trek Online fast approaching and the closed beta underway, publisher Atari has sent forth new screenshots of the sci-fi PC MMO.

The latest from Champions Online developer Cryptic Studios, Star Trek Online does not yet have a specific launch date. An Atari representative told Shacknews that it should launch in February, with various retailers listing it for release on February 2.

I really hope there is an EVE-style 14 day free trial for this game when it comes out. It looks good, but I'm afraid there is no end game meaning I'll get bored in a few weeks.

    I think the 'free to play, but pay for in-game items' scheme for ST:O died back when it was still under Perpetual's wing.
    
    As for the trial, I just can't see ST:O having that much longer term playability. Particularly with KOTOR waiting in the distance.
