The chaps over at Runic Games--a studio composed of former Flagship/Blizzard refugees--have released a new trailer for their upcoming Diablo-esque title, Torchlight.

Speaking of Diablo, does that music sound reminiscent? It should! Diablo composer Matt Uelmen is providing a full score for the game.

The singleplayer Torchlight hits on October 27. We saw the game at PAX, so we'll have more on Torchlight--including an interview with Runic co-founder Peter Hu--in the coming days.

The only bad thing is that there is no online. I've never had fun playing a hack and slash solo. It looks like a lot of fun though.

Mythos was awesome. I put a ton of hours into it. This looks like a really polished version of it so I might have to get it for $20 just to support them

at that price Im sold. Alot of stuff reminded me of a cheaper version of d3. So this might be a hack and slash foray thats at least worth looking into

It's not online because they need to generate some income first then go online. Network infrastructure ain't cheap

That's only half true. They wanted to just be able to put out a finished game before plunging straight into another MMO. The single player isn't funding the MMO, but it should help the guys (and gal) at the studio out monetarily. Plus the art assets and lore all can be reused for the MMO.

It has a shared stash for your characters and a retirement system to be able to pass on skills or items down to a "descendant." Also they are releasing the full developer's tools to allow for pretty open modding.
