Mass Effect PC Patch 1.02 Released

The long-awaited 1.02 patch for the PC version of Mass Effect was released tonight by BioWare.

The 70 MB patch addresses various crashes and problems, and is fully compatible with the Steam version of the game. Grab it now on FileShack.

I've played this through 3 times and it has never crashed. Watch now that I'm downloading this update, that it causes issues after I install it. :S

I didn't have any problems with GRID until after an update, then it would give me an error on exit --not a big deal I guess.

  Oh nice! A bunch of my friends (all with 8800GTS 640's) had massive problems with random crashing that I never encountered, so hopefully that note at the end is their solution!

    I never even came close to finishing this game, it crashed and fucked up so much. Also, I have that exact video card.

    I asked which cards were crashing for the few that had issues on the ME forum months back and the 9800 GT was mentioned by more than a few. it's basically the same card as 8800 GT from what I understand, both are using the G92.
    
    I played this through on my 9600 GT for every play through, which uses a G94. So I' m thinking that it was an issues with earlier nVidia procs and by being a cheap arse at the time, I saved myself from the frustration others have experienced.
    
    I have a 275 now and the game runs fine, but I have yet to play it all of the way through.

      I have a 9600 GT too, and it used to crash a lot. Nvidia drivers calmed it down, but apparently, this patch kill it for good.
      I still have some bug which are supposed to be killed by this patch though :s

  Mass Effect has been practically unplayable for me. I hope this solves my problems so I can play through it again.

      OK, so you don't own the game, but yet you're making this comment. I'm not the only one that's had no issues with this game. If you visit the Mass Effect's PC forum, just look around and you'll notice that those that were unfortunate to have issues are a minority.

    I hope it resolves it. This is one of my favorite single player games in recent years.
    
    By chance are you overclocking any of your components?

      Nope, I'm not overclocking anything, and my stuff is up to date. I love the game, and actually played through it despite the occasional crash the first time. Somehow my second play through has just been more punishing.

        That sucks, but cool that you got one play through. Here's hoping for the best.
        
        For reference, I played this under XP64. I don't know if any one OS was more prone to issues than another.
