Activision's celebration of GamesCom brings with it the first trailer and screenshots from the latest Call of Duty entry for Nintendo DS, subtitled Modern Warfare: Mobilized.

Developed by the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare DS and Call of Duty: World at War DS veterans at n-Space, Mobilized arrives in stores on November 10--the same day that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PC, PS3, 360) and the Wii port of Call of Duty 4 hit retail.

I've yet to try a shooter on DS. Any of them any good? This one looks promising.

I tried Brothers in Arms DS, that was kind of cool! But I found it hard to really work out what was going on most of the time, I'm going to give this one a go though, it looks more fluid.

Call of Duty 4 on the DS was great. It felt like a scaled down version of the main game, with tight controls, great music ripped from the main game, and full voice acting. It's probably less than $20 now, worth picking up for sure.

I've also played the aforementioned Brothers in Arms, which was fun, but far too short. Bionicle Heroes is the only other FPS I've played. I wasn't expecting much, but it's actually incredibly fun. Very Quake-esque, with lots of weapons and levels.

I own the old Modern Warfare (is this supposed to be the sequel, MW2? on the DS. It took some time to get used to the controls, but they are pretty snappy. It was a bit tough, too, but certainly fun.

It featured a minimal UI, leaving most of the screen to the view itself. The directional pad acted as the strafe buttons, shoulder buttons were the trigger, and you used the stylus on the touch screen to aim. Really, for a FPS on a DS, it's the only real way to play it.

My only complaint was how slow it was to switch between weapons or grenades - there was a touch button on the far left of the screen that you'd have to tap to open the menu, then tap the weapon you wanted.

I think I'll hunt down a copy of CoD 4 DS. Read a couple reviews and seems like a strong choice. CoD: WaW DS look seven stronger but at an obviously higher price point. The cheapskate in me says buy the cheaper one.
