I don't normally judge games by graphics or system requirements, but the dam the pc I built back in 2001 could run this game :\

Then that's good, I'm guessing more and more MMO's will go for lower system requirements. They can't potential customers unable to play no matter how shitty and old their pc is.

Welcome, dear friend, to the sad realization that MMORPG engines are generally crap. :-\ I'm not just talking out of my ass here; friends of mine in the game development biz bitch about it on a pretty regular basis.

      Ehhh?

You realize "minimum" means exactly that, right? Bare minimum "your computer can RUN THE GAME with the WORST POSSIBLE VISUALS" requirements...

Also, dual core CPUs, GeForce 7800s, and ATI X700s did not exist back in 2001. Control your hyperbole!

I think he's referring to the visual quality evident in the screenshots. He may be going a little overboard, but based solely on the still screens without seeing the game in action he has a point - I think a Radeon 9700 Pro could generate comparable visuals, and that's only two years newer. So does this mean when Blizzard release their sys reqs for SC2 and/or Diablo 3, and they are fairly low, you are going to complain?

Normally on this site people praise the low reqs that blizzard requires, I figured the same would go for other companies, but I maybe wrong.

These requirements aren't particularly low for the visual quality being offered. That's the difference.

Maybe they're just good at optimization

The graphics look pretty good for a modern MMO, I haven't seen many that look much better... maybe Aion. The environments look pretty simplistic though.

I'm sure they made the specs low because of stuff they've learned from City of Heroes. CoH had pretty simplistic graphics, but in the heat of combat, all of he special effects happening all at the same time between all of the people in your team would cause even some of the beefiest computers to get choppy. I haven't played CoH on my current PC, but it slowed my last PC down to a crawl when the combat got heavy (I think it was an Athlon64 3700+ proc with 4gb DDR2 ram and an ATI X1800XT video card... no slouch considering how old CoH is.)
