Rumor: Xbox 360, PS3 Price Drops Coming This Fall
While the source did not provide figures or dates, Ars claims that the Xbox 360 Pro will "disappear in July or August," to be replaced by the current 120GB Elite model following a September price cut.
Ars similarly predicts that the PlayStation 3 80GB model will be phased out over the next 60 days, with a price cut on the 160GB to coincide with the launch of the PS3 Slim.

These Price cut rumors have to hurt Sony and I wonder if its done on purpose
I sold my PS3 back in December because I heard of rumors of a price drop in January
January came and nothing, i found more articles of a price drop the following months, nothing...nothing....nothing
I kept waiting until Finally i bought another PS3 last month due to a price error at Futureshop ($350.00 80GB included Uncharted and Hot Shots Golf)

Yeah. I really want to play Wipeout HD, and I also want a BluRay player, but I'm not buying the PS3 for €370. Had Sony made some official "we're not making price cuts in the next 12 months" statement when Wipeout HD came out, I would've maybe bought one at that point, but the constant rumors do make me hesitant.

they wouldn't make the statement either that a price cut is coming because people will hold off until they actually see a price cut
i'm a conspiracy theorist so I think these price cut rumors are done on purpose to hurt Sony
I also think the early leaks at E3 regarding Sony products was done on purpose to make their show less impressive (Which it was since everyone knew everything beforehand)....
Playstation Lifestyle....some no name site manages to leak the Trico "Last Guardian" trailer a month in advance ....who gave him that? and the kid posts on N4G and he's been dieing for attention after his failed article a few months back on his promise to reveal something else so everyone shit on this kid and then bam this trailer comes out and people are like mass respect
there was an article here on the shack awhile back about AEG and how actors are hired to portray real posters on forums for Nvidia and other companies involved and that article was done 5 years ago I could only imagine the lengths and tricks companies come up with now to win the war of Public Image
