After demonstrating the latest additions to its multi-platform Unreal Engine 3 at Game Developers Conference, Epic has released a video to showcase said features.

The additions include a content browser for artists to easily find game assets, the multi-purpose Unreal Master Control Program architecture that allows users to track various online play statistics, and a new lighting feature dubbed "Unreal Lightmass."

Utilized by Epic and various other developers for games such as Gears of War 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum, Unreal Engine 3 runs on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Do current Unreal Engine 3 developers get these additions for free? Is this a whole new engine that must be bought, or do they simply buy the upgrade?

I'm almost 100% certain they get all new upgrades and additions to the engine free. Hell they aready paid $300,000 for it... isn't that the going rate? or is it $100k?

        Ya anyone know the rates?

Is there a Indie rate, I doubt it but it would sure be nice if there was a version for 20k?

I thought it was more along the $1M range, but im sure it really depends on dev, publisher, gametype, etc

Looks like it. From a recent Epic PR: "The new lighting features are bundled with Unreal Engine 3 and benefit all current and future engine licensees. Like all of Epic’s engine features, Unreal Lightmass is available at no additional cost to licensees."

When you have a license you have direct access to their source control. You have access to everything they do.
