Romeo and Juliet Debut Happy Ending on PC

Claiming that Shakespeare "was an entertainer, not an academic" and would probably be "pretty appalled at how we teach his plays at school," family-run studio Baby Eish Games today released its own interactive rendition of Romeo and Juliet.

Most Romantic Tales: Romeo and Juliet (PC) brings Shakespeare's tragedy to today's feckless youth with a contemporary translation and interactive dialogue.

"They're meant to be enjoyed, and translating his works into computer games is a great way to reach the modern audience on their own ground," said Baby Eish of Shakespeare's plays.

If your own little Juliet refuses to do her English assignment because it's so sad that--warning: spoilers ahead--Romeo and Juliet die at the end, you might be pleased to hear players can opt for a happy ending. Or you might bite your fist and weep silently.

A sixty-minute demo is available on FileShack, with Baby Eish offering the full 82 MB download for hark, a mere $13 on its website. Just click on the baby to buy!

I always thought that Shakespeare's deleted scenes didn't get enough love, glad to see someone finally giving that Romeo and Juliet: Happy Ending Scene 2-B the love it so rightly deserves.
