I now have the first Mac (and the first laptop, for that matter) that I've ever owned.-

It's awesome isn't it? I bought myself one recently... the only problem I have with it, is when I view a dark image, I can see that the screen is slowly going bad(?). It looks like this:

But not as intense. It's not such a problem to where I need to return it just yet but if it gets any worse, I might have to.
Not to rain on your parade. It's definitely a great laptop! I'm loving it.-

About a couple months ago, it's current gen. That pic probably isn't current gen tho, I forgot to look. Was just trying to get some sort of example of what I was experiencing. The thing is, I don't notice it right now unless there's a dark image on the screen.. like if the screen fades to black when loading something, I can see that it doesn't look like it should. Hard to explain.
Again, at this point, it's nothing that is too much of a problem. I don't even notice it 98% of the time.

Yeah, I'm thinking about it. It only does it when the screen is viewing something dark. So, it's not really a huge deal. But I'll probably call support and ask them about it and might get a replacement. I spent a lot of money on it, so I figure I should get what I paid for. But like I said before, despite that small problem, the Macbook Pro is an amazing laptop! I haven't had one other problem with it yet.

You can only use the larger display at its native resolution if it is setup as an extra display. That's your only option. If you mirror it, it will scale down to the built-in display's res and you better like it. And you can't disable or turn off the built-in display to have your external screen be your main display (at least not that I've found).

Bad photo but see here what my box looks like. Under that black envelope thing is an opening that housed that white package containing the adapter. I put it on top for reference. http://www.shackpics.com/files/iPhoneUpload_cph82i57xxiomamapg74.jpg

Yes, exactly. All PCs have been able to do this forever. What's more, a Mac could easily do something far more advanced: scale the built-in display so it fits a larger resolution within the smaller one.
Hell, at least give me the option to turn off the built-in LCD so I can have a single main display at the resolution I want! Fucking Apple. -

his OCD and window sizing on his 2nd monitor makes me cringe, I just can't work in windows that are all formatted that way for some reason. Shit has to be on top of each other and with things like IRC that he has on there I always had like 8 channels I was in all taking at once so that small of screen space would make me cry.
-
It's awesome. tabbed browsing hasn't reduced the amount of browser windows I have open, now I just have 45 of them open with multiple tabs, all stacked on top of each other.
I've learned to love expose very much.
I can also tell how much work I did the day before by how many random terminal windows are strewn about my desktop.-
oh I love tabs as well, I just can't for the most part work with things so tightly laid out like how his monitor on the left is.
I bury windows behind others all the time in windows and osx because I don't always need them open so I put something over it or minimize it to the task bar. Things like browsers and IRC need more space for me than he is giving it on the left monitor where as IMs and winamp I don't always need having a dedicated space like his are all arranged so neatly.
