Morning Discussion: Last of 2008 Edition

I'm sure that some folks have already crossed over into 2009, but here at Shacknews Indiana, we're about fourteen hours away from venturing into the fabled ew year.

I ended up watching that new Resident Evil CG flick, Degeneration, last night. I don't think anyone but Resident Evil fans are going to get anything out of it, and I can't see myself ever watching it again, but it was ...nice to see Leon, Hannigan and Claire again? Things were promising up until the middle, when it started relying more on generic character development instead of the crazy zombie killing action we all love.

There just weren't that many "oh that's awesome" moments, apart from a few little inside jokes (Claire holding a red and white-striped umbrella) and some RE2 fan service. I get the feeling that the last 30 seconds were tacked on much later in production, just to provide some sort of tenuous connection to the bad guys in Resident Evil 5.

But hey, I'm looking forward to tonight. My little brother and his lady friend are in town--hi Reid and Jen!--and we're all going to a big New Years bash with some good friends. Here's hoping that this 2009 fellow shows that lanky 2008 kid who's boss.

Ouch. You were in pretty good shape item-wise, too. Lots of wands and already a ring of poison resistance. You needed more spells, though. Enchantments (particularly Swiftness early on) are key to survival as a pure spellcaster.

It sucks not being able to play games like DF or Crawl properly on a laptop because of the lack of a numpad. They are perfect games for playing while traveling, but the control scheme makes it impossible :(

Maybe we should buy those USB keypad dealies.
