BioWare has released the first trailer for its upcoming title Star Wars: The Old Republic, the Knights of the Old Republic-informed MMO.

The trailer provides an overview of the project, and includes a decent amount of in-game footage.

The Old Republic was announced in October, and currently has no expected release date. Platforms have also not been detailed, beyond the obvious PC release.

Normal mobs who have weak weapons / vibra blades. Elites who have fellow sabres and take an actual concerted effort to kill.

That's about the best I can think.

More often than not, lightsabers seem to just make sound and flashy lughts. I guess those movie sabers were just flukes.

Also: Apparently, jedi prefer just standing still and swing. Footwork is for plebs.

I didn't have problems with that in kotor or jedi power battles. I just loved the games.
In kotor there was some kind of armor that supposedly blocked the lightsaber, buy tou could play without armor and the enemies still wouldn't cut your arms and head in one strike. so...

Cortorsis Weave (similar concept to Damascus Steel) is proof against lightsaber plasma. There were some Cortorsis weapons in KOTOR, IIRC.

Oh yeah! That's the only thing that could outdo a Japanese smith, backinthaday! And even then, a longsword or claymore wouldn't have been as good as a katana for the way Japanese fought.

There are certain armors and technologies( in those days that are lost in Vader Era I believe ) that can protect you from light saber hits much like bullet proof glass, which is perfectly acceptable.

But when someone or something isn't wearing armor or tech that is designed to protect from a light saber, it should be off with their limbs in short notice, none of this hit points BS.

Any any such armor or technology that protects from light sabers, should be designed to do JUST that. That way players have to load out before hand, or with specific actions in mind and can't just be protected all the time from light sabers.

I'm so sick of having light sabers that don't kill in critical first hits. I think it would be AWESOME if they found someway to mix hit detection and D&D style combat to make this work.

Otherwise, immersion for me, and I think a lot of other players, is just never going to happen when we KNOW what a light saber is capable of, but some BS game mechanic ruins it!

Make this work BioWare, I have faith in you....and I still need to finish KoToR I & II, hahahaha. :(
