First X-Men Origins: Wolverine Screenshot Released

The first screenshot of Raven's X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been released via 1UP.

The title is based on the upcoming movie of the same name starring Hugh Jackman. The film will detail Wolverine's past, and is set to cover the Weapon X storyline and reintroduce the character of Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber).

As for the game's prospects, former Fox executive Jeff Katz was optimistic about the project in speaking with MTV recently.

"A couple of the Fox execs, myself and a couple of the principals involved [in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'], we're all gamers," said Katz. "So when it came to the 'Wolverine' movie game, it was like, 'Let's do the coolest possible version of an X-Men game.'"

"Even the game itself, from everything I've seen and been told about it, is going to be slightly harder-edged than the X-Men games that have come before--which fits the tone of the movie," he added.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is set for release alongside the film in May 2009. While only the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms have been confirmed, additional versions may be in the works.

Despite all the qualities of this screenshot I can't help but notice the glaring lack of anti-aliasing..

If there was AA I'd assume it was the movie.

      probably just jpeg compression.
If you blow it up to full it improves. not 100%, but better.

      Unreal3 doesn't use anti-aliasing.

That's right; but where in the article is UE3 mentionned?

Doesn't, but most newer games being powered by it, and the lack of AA certainly point that way.
