Morning Discussion
Morning folks. So why do lawyers blame silly things like Grand Theft Auto in court? Because it's their job. Also, if you were waiting for Rush's Moving Pictures album on Rock Band, you may have to wait a bit. And Will Wright? Loves the Sporn.

I really wish someone would make a good superhero movie. I don't mean like batman where it's a guy being all morose and who doesn't even have super powers, and I don't mean like the hulk where it's one single guy with powers vs. the govt and when he's not super powered he's all morose, and not like that trailer and not like The Specials and not like Mystery Men and not like Superman Returns where there aren't any super powered people for him to fight and he's all morose when he's creepily spying on Lois and not like Hancock where he's all morose where the main bad guy is a one handed dude with a guy.
Why can't someone make a superhero movie that's about bad ass super heroes tearing up shit and actually fighting other super powered people? They can still be human characters with personalities, but why are all the superhero movies lately about people with a shit ton of angst or ridiculous spoofs?
The Xmen movies were about the best superhero movies ever made, and parts of the first two spiderman movies were okay, but even those were riddled with angsty characters.-

That's exactly what I hate about comics in general. AWESOME GUY beats up AWESOME GUY until MORE AWESOME GUY comes along then gets into a fight with EVEN MORE TOTALLY AWESOME GUY then AWESOME CROSSOVER GUY joins the fight doing something BADASS and then THE UNIVERSE RESETS.
Superhero comics mostly suck. The whole escalating conflict thing gets really really old really really fast. It did in DBZ too.
Watchmen, The Authority (well, the first few), and Planetary are about the only good (modern) superhero comics I can think of.-

For the same reason Poirot is fastidious, solves the case and complains about people confusing him for a Frenchman in all his books, for the same reason Rambo shoots shit up and broods about being a vet and watching his buddies die in every fucking movie.
Spiderman did evolve, he got into a relationship, he went and did other things, the weirdness of that became the status quo, but in the end the staff realized that Spiderman fighting the Skrulls with the Avengers on an alien planet or whatever retarded shit is not nearly as interesting as Spidey not having money, catching muggers and being in trouble with the Daily Bugle. Those are home traits that a) are not restrictive in what kind of enemies you can come up for the character yet allow interesting drama to be created from story to story b) separate and make distinct the character from other superheroes c) are what drew people to the character in the first place.
There's nothing wrong with that. It's what mainstream entertainment is. What the fuck are you reading comics for except for that kind of direct, simple satisfaction?-
That's just it. I haven't read superhero comics in over a decade, except for Civil War, which was okay. The problem is, a decade later, I pick up an Xmen tie in to Civil War? Nothing has changed. Like... nothing. Maybe the team has a few different members on it, but what's the point of reading a story if I can miss over 100 issues and not miss anything?

I'm not saying they can't be regular people when they're not being superheroes. But most superhero movies suck cause the super powered person is the only person in the world with powers. I'd like to see a team of super heroes (and not bullshit superheroes like Hawkeye and Mockingbird) against a genuine threat and not "omg he's got super powers, shoot it with a helicopter!"
