Heavy Update!

New Textures!-

Though, even if they do, that would still probably be a good thing. If someone falls so madly in love with Arena that they want to play nothing else, there's a fair chance they were getting bored of CP and CTF and would have simply stopped playing TF2 in the near future. Arena certainly might capture the imagination of some of the lost playerbase, too.

There's so many different possibilities for a turbo map. I could make a 'trick' heavy map where the better you are at controlling movement the more advantage you gain, or a plain map with straight hallways that favor pure speed. The amount of fun you can have with the turbo mod really depends on how good you're willing to get with the new movement system. Obviously the more fun maps will be more complicated, but that would turn away new users, and with how few people even try it out before saying "shit sucks, game is broken, will never try this" it would not be a good idea to make a complicated map.
The only person I've seen play it more than once is Fireman and myself. I love it, but there is no one ever playing.-
Barrier to entry on Turbo is pretty high. People don't want things that change what they think works (even if it really doesn't).
TF2Turbo needs a bit more tweaking to make it really right before going full time to it. But even then it seems more like a novelty then any hope of actually being big :( -

This is a really hefty update....I'm impressed...we get:
- Heavy Class overhaul
- Inclusion of one of the best community maps (Steel)
- New Payload Map - Bad Water Basin
- New Game type - Arena
- 2 new maps for Arena (Ravine and Lumberyard) and 3 retooled arena maps from the old ones
- New Texture set for Ravine.
that's a lot of shit man, kudos to valve as if the updates are like this from here out this game will have lots of cool new life to it.-
I'm more excited about the new texture set than anything else. I was planning on making a forest version of the TFC Well map which would definitely stay closer to the layout of the original TFC one because I do not like how valve 'recreated' Well, but I absolutely loved the TFC version. I was thinking of keeping only the outside area and turning it into an arena map. Cliffs on either side where the bases used to be which you can climb up via ramps (instead of the ladder). 'valley' in the middle with a (rock?) structure in the center which spans the valley and provides cover like the metal structure in the TFC version. More natural looking rivers on each side of the base to replace the moats in the TFC version.
