I like King more than Pacifism which is super stressful. I almost have the achievement on King: activate 30 rings without firing a shot. I got to 29. :(

              August 5, 2008 9:51 PM

I got to 28 about five times before I got the achievement. I think got thirty purely by luck as of the final set of rings were all cozy-like and next to each other.

Get good at grouping lots of things together to bust apart. Also, one very important thing to note is that the damage radius at the ends of the bars is a lot larger than in front or behind the bar. Try to get the groups to be at one of the two ends.

        • reply
          August 5, 2008 7:04 PM

Btw: The ends of the bar are what explodes, not the connecting line. That little fact alone helped me triple my score (to a whopping 12 Mil). Mostly helps because you don't believe that the one in front of you as you go through the bar will die. Cuz it won't always.

It's also extremely important to have confidence in your ability to know when you can make it through a gap between groups of blues or when you need to turn around and go around em. My ship control has gotten so much better due to the hours playing this one game. Too bad I can't shoot worth a goddamn.

Also: Don't do what I do and consistently taunt the enemies in Geometry Wars. Calling them cunts, fucktards, shitheads, rapists, and child molesters may be good for your psyche but it distracts your brain too much while you think of something new to call the cunt twat snake that just appeared out of nowhere a cunt twat and then you accidentally ram yourself into a crackwhore raping edge of a gate.

I kept trying to get higher than 5 million for about 20 minutes before I realized a key. You need to go through a bar and circle back around. Not only does it help with getting the multipliers, but it also enables you to double-back on any enemies who may have not exploded and figure out how to kill them too.

Once I started to do the circle motion while going through my scores skyrocketed and I just ended the night with a 21 million point run.

It's never easier to get higher scores. They just made the numbers bigger. The easier it is to get "higher scores" the easier it is to get the people that had high scores last time get even higher scores. It's a perpetual cycle. Bizarre Creations just made it easier for people to get scores in the millions.

That's stupid. They should keep it in the ones, so the ultra mega good players have a score of like, 1,000 while all the normal people have a score of 12. If I made games all my high scores would be like that. No more arbitrary thousands and millions. Also no colors or sound effects as they tend to excite kids too much.

It's not like some games where the smallest increment to a score is a billion. The points do start out very low. Collecting multiplier geoms is an integral part of the gameplay, and they are what cause scores to increase exponentially.

I hit 57 million last night, with only you ahead of me on my friends leaderboard. I can tell I'm slowly improving, getting a better sense of when it's safe to barge straight through a gate into an oncoming swarm, when to turn round, or when to go through the gate and then turn round.

I am utterly terrible at the other modes though :( I can't shoot.
