Metal Gear Solid 4 Ships 3 Million Since Launch; Konami PS3 Revenue Jumps from 1.3% to 57%
Kojima Productions' stealth action shooter moved three million units since its June 12 debut, propelling Konami's PlayStation 3 business to 57.3% of its total sales in the quarter ending June 30. The figure shows a massive increase over the same reporting period last year, in which PlayStation 3 software accounted for just 1.3% of sales.
The publisher added that sales of Metal Gear Solid 4 are still "steadily increasing."
Konami reported $656.1M in net revenue for the quarter, showing a 16.7% increase over the same reporting period last year. Profits amounted to $108.6M, or a 65.6% year-over-year increase.

i cant believe i bought this game.. definitely a rental. gameplay is very very short..and last few levels hardly have enemies.. just empty space to run around.

While I don't regret buying the game - as I've got numerous hours of gameplay from unlocking different things on subseqeunt playthroughs; I agree with you that is it really short.
For the average player once you removed the vast amount of lengthy cutscenese, there is only about 5-6 hours of acutal gameplay. Once you learn the caution points and the different zones the time dwindles even more.
It's hard to notice how short the game is on the first playthrough because even though the game is cut scene heavy, they are all very engaging and interesting to watch (at least once, if not a few more times). Once you play through it twice or a third time you realize how much the game is lacking.
IMO, if all the reviewers who gave this game a 10/10 were to review it again now, after the intial first playthrough's wow factor, I think it only get a low to mid 9. It definitely isn't a flawless game.
