I can understand that, I'm just saying that it is sometimes hard to separate memory of a movie's special effects and memory of the abortion that was the story. But I can't say either way between the two movies since I only saw TDK on IMAX.

My other favorite would be Fellowship of the Ring, but they are such different movies it's hard to compare.

So I finally got a chance to see it last night. It didn't quite strike me as well as the first one did. Heath's performance was of course nothing short of amazing. Bale's pursed-lip growling got kind of grating after a while and for all of Nolan's other superb filmmaking skills, he still can't shoot a fight scene worth a lick. All of the fight scenes pretty much comprised of quick half-second close-in upper-torso-framed cut shots of Batman punching someone. Yawn. The movie felt really long to me too, in which I now agree about cramming the Dent/Two-Face story arc into the last section of the film. I can appreciate the storyline of Joker's corruption of Dent, but it all just felt forced.
Was pretty cool to see so much of Chicago shot as well. I was watching from across the street when they were shooting the street scenes with Bruce's grey Lambo.
All in all, I would probably watch it again, if nothing else for Heath's final and enthralling depiction of Gotham's most cunning and diabolical super-villian.-

I was really impressed with the music. Somehow Hans Zimmer managed to restrain himself from doing another rewrite of the score from The Rock (you know, the one that was used in Crimson tide and Gladiator); perhaps that was James Newton Howard's doing. But there's really only one theme (the two chord batman theme), and the rest is almost just noise.

So what would be one of your favorite movies? Batman has always been my favorite comic book guy and I like the darkness of this movie.

yeah, only reason why i love it. batman and the joker are my fav hero/villain combos. even the campy tim burton's combo satisfied me.

there's a part of me that wants it to be horrible just to avoid that aspect. but the scales will probably tip too far in the other direction. :(

The trailer looks pretty goddamned spot on though. I heard the Black Freighter stuff isn't in the film at all, but is being done for the Super Deluxe DVD.

I understand that. I was one of the few people that was "ok" on the LOTR films, but I get it. Then again I was one of the ten people who absolutely hated Shrek (which the whole planet went apeshit over), so obviously personal preference plays into things. I won't be surprised to see TDK fall in the IMDB ratings once another 100k votes accumulate, but I can't say I'm unhappy with how well it is being received. :)

I actually do agree that the hype is pretty insane but so is most shackhype stuff. The only difference is that this movie is popular in real life too.

I watched it Wednesday night. It was a very well done movie, it is one of the best comic movies ever done. That said, it isn't the end all be all of film making. Good: yes, best evar!!!!one!!!: no.

The Dark Knight is better than Alien, Terminator 2, Aliens, Shawshank Redemption, Commando, Red Dawn, Saving Private Ryan, Full Metal Jacket, Predator, There Will Be Blood, Unbreakable, The Godfather, Ordinary People, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Goodfellas COMBINED INTO A SUPERMOVIE. I just saw it and though it was a great movie, it was hardly any kind of transcendent entertainment experience for me. Just a very well put together movie, with some excellent acting.

This is blaspheme. I thought it was pretty good. Liked the first one better.
We were laughing at the batvoice towards the end of the movie. It's fine for a short sentence but he really shouldn't talk that much as Batman.-
the funniest scene imho was when he was on the batcycle and it rears up like a horse and spins around

was your imax a dome screen? there are two imax's in tampa, and i went to a non-dome one and got my money back. it just felt like a regular stadium-seating movie theater. it would have been the second time i had seen the movie.
