Happy Friday everyone, looking forward to wrapping this week up? More than a few Shackers are probably sitting in lines as we speak, with the iPhone 3G launch going on today. While the game selection is interesting if not glorious, I'm hoping the platform becomes a home to lo-fi gaming.

More lawsuits have come out of the woodwork for EA and Rock Band, this time from Konami and they even want to keep us from playing it. Can't say that warms the cockles of my heart. Also we're going to take another shot at this whole Guitar Hero contest things today, so look for that later on.

    Actually this weekend it's rack building, installing PDUs and hooking up servers, which is probably why I don't have Civ:Rev yet. But I have today off so who knows what I might be playing by tonight.

      My upload badwidth is so pathetic, it's not even funny. When the g/f uploads pics to shutterfly at a whopping 10 Kb/s, my ping in TF:2 goes to 800+. . .even surfing sux.

    Yes let's get some TQ this weekend. My bro and I helped out SeaLlama last night. Right now we're level 30 (harbinger) and 28 (oracle) in Act 3. We're up for finishing up Act 3 or helping people out lower than us. I'd like to see a game with 4+ people.

  I like the Aztecs' starting power, of units healing immediately after battle. I don't know if I like it more as a defensive tactic, allowing me to turtle, or an offensive one, allowing me to build up units en masse and create a rolling wall of death to start.

    I mean, oh yeah I'm totally loving the Aztecs too. Started playing a game last night with them and had to stop at 1am but they finally feel like a 1st tier civilization. Have you tried the Mongols also? Bad. Ass.

      Yeah I played TP when it first came out. I had no idea it was mostly a rehash of Ocarina. So far it is enjoyable but not as good as it probably should be having already played TP. The targeting and lack of true camera controls is a bit frustrating for me at times. The puzzles are fun though. I just made it to the Forest temple last night, so I still have quite a ways to go.

        Yeah that's mainly what I was interested in, your reaction to playing the first "version" of the game since TP cribbed quite a lot from Ocarina's game design/mood/aesthetic/puzzles.
        
        It's not going to be as refined, but some of the puzzles are different/better.

      no. i played the demo and it was fun but i dont know if i could really play it much. moving all my military units around became too bulky and in the demo im not sure if i was even able to get all of the units to be able to kill some cities that were too well defended :( i had a bunch of armies and i can only attack a city one at a time? no wonder i couldnt take it down :(

        that's normal civ behavior. just bring units specialized for city attack.. i was pwning with my Ninja Catapult Army (lolol)

  Quake Live is a quick jolt of fun. Easy loading and fast gameplay. 15-30 minute bursts are fine.

  I've gotta spend the majority of my weekend judging Magic: The Gathering. However, when I'm at home I'll be splitting my time between BF:BC and Civ:Rev. I have beaten Civ:Rev with the Germans and Spanish already, and have about 1/5 of the achievements. Not sending it back to Gamefly until I at least have a victory with each race!

  Nothing. I shipped my PS3 to Sony this morning. Frakking thing doesn't start up anymore. I could hear the startup tone but that was it. My guess is the HD died since it didn't spin up anymore :(
