So we've been hearing rumors about Sony developing their own form of achievements, but now we're actually seeing proof. Oh yeah, and that BioShock game? Should have failed! And a hard announcement date for Left4Dead, which should be a good bit of fun. Hooray!

It's still a possibility that it's a Diablo rune. Blizzard have been known to borrow from other franchises, and War3 was released after D2. I mean Illiadan has a PANDA FACE on his blades.

No the Panda faces are just things Samwise likes to hide in his images. You see one on Illidan's Glaive in one picture, and he hides a panda face in the antlers of a Keeper of the Grove in another.

There's no way its a wrath date; makes no sense. It's too early to peg a date down for it and doing an elaborate reveal for a release date for a known project isn't their style as far as I remember. I've got to think its the Project Hydra reveal based on numerous things (like that dude's entire gallery going down), and it seems likely that Hydra is Diablo 3 unless we're getting red-herring'd to death with the runes and the diablo3.com redirect etc.

I don't know.. a portal being opened to bridge the two games could be kinda interesting... I'd be disappointed in not being a new version of D2, but a mixing of the lore in an interesting way could be really cool.

He's more or less right. The core playerbase of WoW is Asia. Assuming D3 has no pay-to-play, the Asian users will easily balance time between WoW, D3, and Starcraft. I doubt they'll even see a large loss in numbers. Diablo has never been a huge attraction for the playerbase at large anyway. Definitely smaller than Starcraft and of course, chump change compared to WoW. You'll probably see a slight lag in WoW's numbers but most people will be playing both.
Now if D3 is pay to play, that's a different story. But seeing as Starcraft II is not, I doubt D3 will be either.

I think it would affect a lot of the 'casual' WoW players who fire it up once every couple days and have just reached level 40 after playing for a year and a half. They also don't group up a lot. For them, I think D3 could scratch the same itch, especially if it were for free.
Especially if all their more hardcore-gaming friends are going 'HOLY SHIT D3 IS OUT YOU MUST TRY THIS' and they see it's from the same guys who made that WoW game they liked so much.
