Fresh weekend chatty for you guys. Don't forget to stick your Grand Theft Auto 4 discussion in here, and check out the latest Shacknews contest to win one of three copies of R-Type Command for PSP. The contest calls for a review of the demo, but I never said you had to actually have played it. Done from a video game character's perspective, you have some opportunity for funny and that's the real goal.

replywhat does it take to construct an OS X dashboard widget? What about social network apps? Are these things that have an existing structure that's not difficult to put content into, or do you have to pretty much start from scratch?

IIRC they're basically just html + css + javascript packaged together. So you need to have something to hit if you want to have functionality outside of what those three can do.
Social Networking apps are similar in that they need a server to hit in order to do anything. Unsure on the rest.-
