GTA 4 Sets One-day Sales Record in UK

12
Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV broke a record by moving 609,000 copies during its first day of release in the UK, according to MCV.

The previous one-day UK record had been held by Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which saw 501,000 copies sold in a 24-hour period.

Sales of Grand Theft Auto IV were closely split between platforms in the territory, with 335,000 Xbox 360 copies sold as compared to 274,000 for the PlayStation 3.

The game has also become the fastest selling Xbox 360 title in the UK, beating Halo 3's first-day sales of 266,000.

not yet... that's just under 1/3 of the production cost, assuming that every copy sold was 60 bucks.

1 AUS dollar is roughly 0.94 US dollars. Why Australian xbox360 games are still $120AU (RRP) is beyond me.

The most I generally wish to pay for a brand new game is $80 (Aus)

Where are you that you pay $120 for 360 games in AU? I've never paid over $99.95 for a new release 360 game.

More like $45 million. VAT is 17.5%, so the government took a $9.5 million slice of the pie. Pre-orders averaged out at about £35.
