So that Kevin Cloud
interview sure had a bit of sass to it. I'm really pretty eager to see what Rage is
turning out to be like. I'm pretty sure we all just have no idea what the heck that game
is really going to be like. Some light reading for this evening:
- Google apparently rich
- Your cheap flights just got screwed
- Red Hat desktop ditched
- Funnyordie getting
props
- Fighting cell phones on
planes
As for the the videogame news around these parts for today:
- Soul Calibur 4 video
- Saints Row 2 screenshots &
video
- Lego Batman screenshots &
video
- Take-Two & EA lawsuit by stock
holder
- New media for Facebreaker and Backbreaker
- Iron Man demo tomorrow
- Gran Turismo 5 updates
- Spiderman: Web of Shadows
- Console sales numbers
Lastly, give some love to TrackMania
Nations Forever! Go play that thing. It's free and awesome. Even better if you have a
360 controller you can plug in to your PC. DO IT.

Not the best, but these are all the ones I'm using that fixes small annoyances and adds minor enhancements:
-Shorter Grass
-Crowded Roads, for random killing sprees.
-Disable Magic Weapon Membrane Shaders
-No Merchant Chatter (makes them shutup while in the buying window)
-Illuminated Windows (outdoor windows light up at night, indoor windows cast light in day)
-Dark Dungeons (makes torches useful, but looks ugly)
-Spectacles Mod, adds glasses :| -

Oblivion Purist's Mod Guide
The post of mine that humbleone linked is retarded and old, here's a quick and dirty list of links and brief descriptions. These mods enhance the game experience but don't change any of the game mechanics. There are tons of other graphic replacements and whatnot but the below list is what I use to keep as much of the original feel of the game as possible.
- TweakOblivion
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2780
Allows you to tweak various aspects of your Oblivion.ini, great for tuning performance or jacking up details for faster computers.
- Unofficial Oblivion/DLC/Shiver Isles Patches
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9969
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10739
Fixes a retarded number of bugs in the game. Load your other mods after these.
- DarNified UI, Loading Screens Themed Replacer w/Shivering Isles Addon
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10763
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13012
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15852
The best UI mod out there, bar none. Has support for trollf's loading screen replacer addons. Use Oblivion Mod Manager ( http://timeslip.chorrol.com/obmm_download.html )to install it.
- Book Jackets, Book Placement
http://ninthwavedesigns.typepad.com/guilded_lilies/2006/07/oblivion_book_m.html
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6262
High resolution book covers and options to precisely place and lock down your books. Remember, when you use these mods together you only have to load bookplacing.esm from the Book Placement mod. -
