Sunday School 5: Learn, Play, Win
Can you identify a game based solely on its health bar graphic? Find out in today's session.
Another Sunday School, another round of disappointment.
The tragedy of this week is that most of you did quite well on the concept art quiz. A good third of you then proceeded to ignore the instructions, writing in full game titles rather than the much-easier-to-correct letters.
Some might say that if a class fails on such a wide scale, it is ultimately the teacher's fault. As your teacher, I completely disagree.
Even still, I did show mercy, correcting every hand-written question and awarding points across the board. As such, most of you--those who bothered to turn in a quiz, that is--passed this round with flying colors.
This week's scores have been posted here. You can also check out the answers to the concept art quiz, spread across three screenshots.
The winner of the randomized drawing happened to be Orange Pylon. Check your messages, Pylon.
Genius points awarded to buzzbat, for writing the following: "Answer 1: final fantasy vii (red 13 and cloud for extra credit) Answer 2: ico (fumito ueda's wonderful ps2 game for extra credit) Answer 3: bioshock (sweet ass concept art for extra credit) Answer 4: grim fandango (manny's office for extra credit) Answer 5: fallout (i got nothing) Answer 6: freespace 2 (vasudan super carrier for extra credit) Answer 7: resident evil 4 (pueblo level for extra credit)".
..and then forgetting to read the directions.
A wonderful future gameplay experience awarded to Demius, for his Resident Evil 4 answer, "dunno at all, but can't wait for the answer, i wanna play this one..."
Yes, you most certainly do.
Quiz of the Week: Know Your Health MetersAlright, enough of that easy stuff. This week's quiz should prove to be a considerable challenge for some of you. A copy of Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors (Wii) will serve as a reward.
Quiz Methodology: So you think you know your gaming stuff, huh? Let's find out. Each week in Sunday School you'll be tasked with completing a quiz, the contents of which will vary in both form and topic. Your quiz score will be recorded and graded accordingly, and instead of a lame gold star or red check-mark, you'll have the chance to win awesome gaming paraphernalia.
Some of these quizzes will be difficult, and some will be a cinch. Anyone who participates will be eligible for the weekly prize drawing. However, those with the highest grades at the end of the semester will have more of a chance to win the secret grand prize. Keep your grades up, and you might win a fabulous reward.
Only registered Shacknews users will be able to participate, so go create an account if you haven't already done so. Due to the nature of the contest, we ask that you refrain from discussing answers in the comments.
In lieu of a weekly lesson, I figured it was time to highlight those students who have begun to stand out as prime examples of academic achievers, namely:
AgroSheep
FaMiNe101
Guybrushed
Kentor
lurker
megarust32
rheroux
windowpane
All have risen to the very top of the Shacknews heap, earning stellar A+ grades.
However, one man has broken free from the entire pack, using his extra credit to catapult himself above a perfect record: SAINTWS6. Setting a weekly standard of excellence, there is no doubt in my mind that SAINTWS6 is a huge cheater.
Congratulations to all of you for achieving nothing. We have plenty of weeks to go, which means there are still plenty of opportunities for you to fail. Stay on your toes, or this will be a long semester.
Class dismissed. Come back next week. Absence will not be tolerated. And you didn't forget to take today's quiz, did you? That would be bad.
