Morning Discussion

Hello everyone, let's do this thing. Dreadfully sorry about it being a Monday and all, but at least we have a brand new ShackCast to soothe you. It's the first episode of season 2, so I think we're all pretty excited to have it finally up. Otherwise, it's been a slow Easter weekend here in the states. Maybe Shackers should try for a Halo 3 revival when the Heroic Map Pack is released for free? Oh, and don't forget that today is the last day for our evilness contest with EA for some nice Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath loot. I've even heard the words "Kane Bobblehead".

I'm finally going to watch Bender's Big Score today, I ripped it from my DVD and put it on my PSP and all this negativity is killing me. :(

i liked it too. yes, it isn't as good as some of the episodes and the intro is lame, but after that it is still a solid movie

Yeah, I'm not sure how it managed to engender so much hate here. I enjoyed it. I was happy to have the cast of characters all doing their things, Bender's lines were great, and I was especially impressed with Al Gore's self-effacing comedy ("that hundred dollars could have bought me... *DUN* *DUN* ONE. GALLON. OF. GAS.")

I'll just spolier this next part in case someone's reading this who hasn't seeing it:

Personally I felt bad for the writers, as they constructed a rather complicated storyline with a payoff that must have looked solid on paper, but I was able to figure out the main storyline within the first quarter of the movie. I identified Lars as Fry almost immediately, because of the voice and because of the bump on his nose, neither of which could have been controlled by the writers, hence my sympathy. Granted, I couldn't be absolutely sure I was right until the idea of the Time Sphere was introduced, but I didn't have a doubt in my mind about Lars.

I didn't hate it. I wanted to like it. It just wasn't very good unfortunately. It was poorly written and not very funny.

It includes all kinds of time traveling non-sense and includes A LOT of references to pretty much everything that happened so far in the series. Also it doesn't have a proper ending because i's going to be continued in the new movie in May.

But thats just it, I personally dislike when a show gets to the point that the only way it can be funny is to just constantly head nod references towards past episodes. That isn't new material, and generally isn't very funny. Heck in BBB, most of them were genuinely obvious/stupid/unfunny.

Last night's Aqua Teen episode mentioned that they can't watch Futurama anymore (I assuming referring to the fact that it isn't on Cartoon Network anymore).

Yeah, it sucks too 'cause Comedy Central's treating the show like crap, skipping the intro 'tag-line' half the time and cutting it off early for commercial breaks and shit. I won't even watch it on there anymore. Hope Matt got a nice moneyhat for selling it to them...

There was a sale at movie stop yesterday. I finished off my collection with seasons 1 and 2 for $35. Better deal than Amazon.
