Morning Discussion
Often with gaming, there might be a ton of great great games and too little time. With multiplayer games, that's really all the more tragic to try and play something without proper cohorts. So, in this thread, dig out one of your old games, and see if you can't find someone to play it with.

In this thread, we dig up an old multiplayer game that should get a bit more love, or maybe see if someone has already suggested it. If you have a good guide for using a Duke3d port, or how to get Carmageddon working on modern machines, this would be a fantastic place for it.

I think I may actually have Drake's email...and I know ICQ saves your friend list.
Haven't talked to Swamp/Timber in a long long time. I did go up and LAN w/ them in Chicago at one point and time. This was when Swamp was trying to get more into the 1on1 scene and join u238.
Ah...memories, let me see if I do have Drake's email.

Halo CE for the PC. It fixed a lot of the bad netcode that shipped with the original game, and some of the user made maps were fantastic!
Unfortunately no one seemed to care that master chief telelagged across the maps in standard Halo PC and so only about 200 people seemed to download CE -
A shame, because it was a really fun game while it was popular (CE) -

Reminder: If you want to play "SiN" on Windows Vista, you must have the latest drivers for your video card from the card manufacturer, not the drivers that ship with Vista or are available on Windows Update.
The drivers put up on Windows Update do not have the OpenGL ICD's, and the OpenGL ICD that ships with Vista is the v1.0 software ICD only.

You know what'd be cool? If the shack had a dedicated "old game" server which rotated old games on a weekly basis. Every week you could check in and see which game is playing and if you had it you could jump in for old style goodness. Having it change games on a weekly basis would allow those that don't own the game to have time to hunt down a copy.
Of course.. the server operator would have to have a gigantic library of old MP games. -

This is played every time my buddies and I have our annual LAN gathering. The asymmetrical teams and kooky weapons always make it enjoyable.
Besides, few things cause more laughs than throwing a Mecc back at his own helicopter, sending it crashing to the ground with the rest of the crew still on board. -

MissionForce Cyberstorm.
An old Earthsiege-series game, turn-based, hex-based mecha combat. Had just the right mix of complexity and accessibility. Great fun. Should have gotten a lot more love.

depends on if you like your games arcade-y this one was first with 4 wheel physics modeling and such. it wasnt perfect, but i had a blast with it. The missions where you are a test driver are sweet. one is they are filming a commercial, and you have to drive....do a 180, shift to reverse, go a little farther, then another 180 to go forward again, then stop in the right spot. so awesome.
