EA Clarifies Reports of New KOTOR, Black Games

Addressing the alleged sequels to BioWare's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Criterion's Black, publisher Electronic Arts has clarified that such products are not necessarily under development at this time.

Reports of the titles emerged yesterday, after a slide (pictured left) presented to analysts by EA CEO John Riccitiello suggested that future KOTOR and Black projects were underway at the EA-owned studios.

"The slide in John's presentation is titled 'Best Creative Talent'--it addresses future and past titles," EA told Shacknews. "KOTOR, Black, Boogie, Skate and some other titles on the slide speak to past portfolio releases and the pedigree of the studio but do not specifically address future sequels."

Outside of the slide, Riccitiello did not mention KOTOR or Black, though it was implied that the listed properties denoted new or upcoming releases. Many of the other properties in the slide, including Skate, were revealed to be receiving future iterations in a later presentation.

"The [previously announced] MMO in development at BioWare Austin is listed a 'New MMO,'" EA's statement continued in an attempt to prevent future misunderstandings. "We apologize for any confusion this may have caused."

I know, I've been excited all day and now there's nothing at all. How much longer must we wait? It's been over three years.

Hopefully they're taking their sweet time to avoid making a bug ridden game like Knights of the old republic 2.

Just so we're clear, you know Bioware didn't make KOTOR 2, right?

What I don't understand is that KOTOR 2 still sold pretty well, even though it isn't as highly regarded. So why haven't they made KOTOR 3?? They're is obviously an audience for it and the ending (or lack there of) for KOTOR 2 practically screams "To Be Continued".

I liked KOTOR2 it was just as good as the first one in my opinion, it just had those stupid game breaking bugs that took a lot away from the experience.

It's like going to a good movie but getting a kick in the balls halfway though. The movie might have been good, but someone still whacked your sack.
