EA Predicts PS3 to Outsell 360 In 2008
The document details EA's expectation that the PS3 will sell five to six million units in Europe in the 2008 calendar year, while settling the Xbox 360 at 1.5 to 2.5 million units in the region. Both consoles are projected to sell evenly in North America, moving five to six million units each.
Total sales among both territories put the PS3 from 3 to 3.5 million units ahead of the Xbox 360 in EA's projections. Perhaps not surprisingly, the document lists Nintendo's Wii at the top of the heap, estimating total sales from 12 to 14 million units in 2008.

Well Europe is Playstation/PC territory, but that's still a pretty freaking bold statement. I think the price needs to drop further before that happens. Then again, this is EA and they are far from all knowing.

"Microsoft states it has sold 17.7 million Xbox 360 consoles worldwide" and the ps3 "In Sony's fiscal Q3, which runs from October-December 2007, Sony shipped 5.4 million PS2 consoles, 4.9 million PS3 consoles and 5.76 million PSPs, along with 60.9 million PS2 games, 26 million PS3 games and 18.3 million PSP games. This brings the PS3 life-to-date shipments to 10.49 million."
The ps3 has sold 10.49 million to date (without dec numbers) and Microsoft has sold 17.7 million numbers to date (without dec numbers) and the 360 had a YEAR A WHOLE YEAR head start. Right now, the ps3 is gaining on the 360 even with a year's loss behind them.

Yup, at least in the US... they could sell double the amount of PS3's per month than the 360... every month of the year... and there would STILL be more 360's here than PS3's.
And I highly doubt the PS3 is going to sell THAT much more. The cheapest version is still $400 and if MS really needs to... they could probably go lower on the 360. There are still lots of good games coming out for the 360... and with the larger install base, third party developers will still be focusing on that platform. If 2008 is weak... 2009 will probably be amazing for the 360 because all those developers who started working on games in 2007 (while the 360 was clearly dominant) will be releasing their games.
