Morning Discussion
Good to see you, welcome to another episode of This Olde Chatty. First up, we'll take a look at Capcom and their plans for an updated 2D Bionic Commando, and it's high chances to make your nether region tingle. Next we'll step over to community news, and Nick will tell us about the valiant Shacknews community's latest battle in the war against the foul Valve players. After that up we turn to the community and ask what they're playing for the weekend, and what's the deal with it. Is it good or wack? Back to you, Bob.

So what are you guys playing this weekend? Or maybe even, what would you like to try and get people to play?

If I'm lucky my guild may actually head into UBRS for the last step of the Onyxia attunement this weekend! :) Just finished getting the UBRS key earlier this week with a mage for backup, but for UBRS we probably need a healer as well and maybe one or two more. :)
But for some reason most people in my guild hates BRS with a passion, mainly those who played end-game before TBC came out (unlike me). :P

I think his new book will be available at B&N soon. He writes period fiction about the 30's and interfaith marige and what not.

Some freaking QUAKE 1. A friend of mine and I were messing around the other day, and then some people joined the server. I was confused at first, because who plays Quake now?! Turns out they were people that we knew that we used to game with back in the day. Anyway, we were messing around last night again and these two guys showed up and challenged us to a 2-2. We won pretty handily, but it was a blast. That game is completely timeless. I won't be around this weekend much, but anyone that wants to play ever whether it's a 1-1 or a team game or an FFA let's DO IT YEAH!

assuming that you haven't recently played KOTOR 1, you'll like it a lot.
pros:
1) 6 prestige classes. 3 for light, 3 for dark, and special force powers that go with each.
2) bonus for full light or dark affiliation
3) HK-47 is back (you need 4 parts to put him together though. not a spoiler. he's just plain broken.)
4) re-read #3 again, commence fapping
5) many new force powers
6) ability to... enhance... your companions.... and knowing certain sequences, this makes it really fun and alters the fights a LOT.
mainly there are a few glaring oversights.
1) the MOOD. KOTOR 1 had this sense of urgency, this sense of impending doom. it was amazing. KOTOR 2 does pick up the story line pretty well given KOTOR 1's ending(s), but the atmosphere is largely lost. But it makes up for itself in how YOU interact with the game, meaning light/dark choices.
2) the ending. wow did that get rushed right out the door. the end fights are really fun, though, but the story is kinda WTF'D.
3) easy mode. if you have any sense of this game, you can SHRED IT. and boy oh boy can I give you some pro-tips on this.
4) broken quests. there are several quests you can't do because of bugs. fuck em and move on.
would you like to know more, MEATBAG? -
If LucasArts would have let Obsidian finish it instead of rushing it out the door, I think it would have been a better game. As it was released though, it has too many bugs and the plot is riddled with incomplete story branches. Still, it's a lot of fun and the story is really good. I beat it about 3 times because I liked playing it so much. I'll be playing it again once the Team Gizka guys finish their Restoration Mod.

Actually, now that you linked that, I think THIS is the reason I haven't installed KOTOR 2 yet. Should I just wait till they are finished? Keep in mind that I have a freaking ton of games to play and go through so I'm not really left wanting as far as a game to play. I just wanted a "complete" KOTOR 2 experience I guess.

Splinter Cell 1. I had forgotten how difficult the first 2 games in the series are compared to the last 2.
The enemies are very unforgiving. Much harder to sneak up on.
And then the "SAVE" system that only has checkpoints. Very challenging (and I''ve finished it like 3-4 times previous... but not for a good year and a half or 2 years)
