Ignition Opens American, Japanese Studios

Europe-headquartered game publisher Ignition Entertainment will soon significantly expand its internal development capabilities with the addition of two new studios. Both Ignition Tokyo and Ignition Florida will work on developing original IPs for Ignition on "next generation formats."

"The opening of both Ignition Florida and Tokyo is a stepping stone to building a stronger and more focused development group," said Ignition CEO Vijay Chadha. "These studios are an important addition to the company and will be a solid foundation on which future plans will be built."

Mainly a publisher for handheld titles and SNK Playmore-developed titles in Europe, Ignition also owns U.K. media studio Digi-Guys, who are working on WarDevil: Unleash the Beast Within (PS3). Ignition is a further subsidiary of India-headquartered UTV Software Communications, who acquired a majority stake in the company this year.

The studio opened by Ignition in Florida is actually my former employer, the former Artificial Studios. They possibly still known as Artificial, though. And I can't say anything about what they're working on other than that it's pretty cool.
