2K Sports is entering the boxing ring, having announced development of Don King Presents: Prizefighter today.

Set for a spring 2008 release on Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS, 2K Sports promises that Prizefighter features a "documentary-style narrative never before seen in a video game" as you build your career in the game.

Development of Don King Presents: Prizefighter is being handled by Venom Games; the company's previous work includes the Rocky Legends game and the porting of Prey to Xbox 360.

"The combination of real-life fight scenarios, story-driven gameplay and photo-realistic graphics will set this title apart from the competition," said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. "Our goal has always been to deliver the most engaging and realistic titles, and Don King Presents: Prizefighter will exceed these expectations. Based on the game's innovative features and high-profile fighters, this title will be a 'must have' for any sports gamer."

please let this be good. please let this be good. I had heard that they were in talks in calling this Fight Night, but i assume the talks with EA didn't go too well. Maybe that means we will still get another fight night from EA. It would be shocking to get 2 decent/good boxing games at once.

If they didn't want to give it the Fight Night name, I wonder how good it can be, but lets hope it's good.

Isn't Fight Night published by EA. Isn't this game being Published by 2K. I don't see how it could have the FIght Night name.

The rumor i had read in a magazine (the identity of which i do not recall) was that with EA chicago folding, and no hurry to update the one game EA could actually greatly improve with a quality sequel, that 2k was in talks with EA over the rights to the name, since it's the brand name in boxing games. Being that this is now called Don King Presents, it can be assumed that EA told 2K to fuck themselves, and maybe, just maybe we'll get a round for if EA is at all threatened by this new game.

Fair enough, I hadn't heard any of that. I wouldn't think EA would let go of the FIght Night name. It seems pretty popular on 360 and PS3.

My brother loves the 360 version. I haven't played it. I would be more then interested in a version for the Wii because of the popularity surrounding the 360/PS3 verison of the game.
