Morning Discussion

Good morning everyone, I hope you're ready for another exciting day of gaming news. I mean, if you were only ready for a day of boring gaming news then you're just shooting too low, and we can't have that. To that end, we should have a new Replay Couch courtesy of Breckon later on and I might have a contest in mind. Also, new Rock Band DLC came out, so if he's your thing, Ziggy Stardust awaits.

Speaking of contests, I've tried to keep them varied and such with photoshopping, writing, and more. Are there some contest types we haven't tried, that you would like to see? Or were you just totally in love with a past one? Either post something or drop your friendly neighborhood Judy McCoy a line.

I need to get some files off of my Mac partition to an external HDD that is NTFS. I can't write to it so I'm trying to use Filezilla to upload to another computer then to my HDD. I must be doing something wrong because it won't connect. Any suggestions?

if it's an intel mac I'd burn a ubuntu 7.10 disc as it includes write support for ntfs

alternately I'd try using windows file sharing

It won't connect to the computer I'm using as a server. Not sure how to put in the address for the computer into filezilla to access it.

I see below that you got the NTFS stuff working. But samba works pretty well on the mac. Proper format is smb:\\username:password@hostname\sharename Hopefully this works in the future, I find samba to be pretty useful.

ah. well you are going to need to setup a ftp server on said pc. have you done that? if so using filezilla is a snap, just enter the the ip and the un/pass you setup for the client.

well this is the other way round from what you described above, but yeah i have this installed in Leopard and macdrive installed in Vista on my MBP and it seems to work for me.

All i had to do to get this working was download and install MacFUSE http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/ and then download and install the NTFS-3G dmg. Probably safest to reboot inbetween each step but yeah it worked fine for me straight off like that.
