Smash Bros. Brawl Includes Video Replay Sharing

21
Alongside online multiplayer and Sonic the Hedgehog, Nintendo's mascot fighter Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) will feature the ability to record and save up to three minutes of video. As explained on the official Smash Bros. blog, these replays can be sent to other Wii owners through the game's online functionality.

A similar mode was recently included in the cultural sensation known as Bungie's Halo 3 (X360). It has since spawned countless video clips of some entertaining and some not-so-amusing moments, the highlights of which are regularly showcased in our Replay Couch column.

With Brawl implementing such a popular and community-oriented feature, expect the internet to be flooded with astounding Smash Bros. feats in the weeks following the game's February 10 release in North America.

hmmm, so have they simplified the wii friend codes then?

Probably not. Friend codes already have non-number aliases, if that's what you're referring to.

I think you can only send to those you've already exchanged Friend Codes with.

WiiLive, coming 2009. (or so I can hope)

Friend codes are lame! Let's have a nintendo portal or something?!

If they just use the system friends code, I'm willing to accept that

I dont mind the friend code so much other than the fact that we have new ones for every game. Why not use the Wii system code in conjunction with miis to facilitate this process? Once you allow a wii console to be friendly, any of their mii's would be allowed to be friends with each other. If this would be true, each game could simply tap into the Wii's central address book to look for friends dammit.

Metroid Prime 3 did this actually. Very nice!

True, but Prime 3 didn't have actual online multiplayer and was simply limited to datagrams essentially. But that is the right direction I think, unfortunately I dont think this is the path being taken by most Wii online multiplayer games :(
