AMD And Intel Price Drops

1

Yummy! It's a fight to the death between AMD and Intel and it looks like the AMD folks just took a big swing. The Athlon800 CPU has just been dropped down in price by 29%! (Thanks Conan Ford) Yup, you can grab a 800mhz chip for under $600 now. Still pretty damn pricey but a nice drop from the $850 mark it was at. There are a few other price cuts as well. AMD states that this just goes along with the release of the 850mhz Athlon they just put on the market.

update by Maarten: Ah, seems Intel has done the same though, lowering their price of the P3 800-MHz processor by 24% to $647 (still more $ than the Athlon). They are preparing for the launch of the 850 and 866mhz versions of the Pentium3. All other P3's were also cut by around 23%, with the Celeron and Xeon processors also becoming cheaper. Thanks Jeff Cheng.
