Evening Reading

Whatup to all my homies on the streets! Holla! For some reason I've found myself enjoying the demolition dude in TF2 of all things. Really just not a class I expected myself to be playing. I suppose it brings back the joys of lobbing grenades in Quake1 or something. Also Scout = Doom2 shotgun. Ok more like single barrel.. but still. Fun.

Lastly, your chuckles for the evening

It's not just a top-notch clan, but rather the guys who MADE the game. Guys who have been playing the game together every day for months now. You managed to hold your own a time or two against those odds. You should be pleased about that.

      • reply
        September 25, 2007 6:25 PM

The main tactics that were new that I saw was:

Rocket jumping EVERYWHERE. They had soldiers flying around the map like I've never seen. They also used demomen to launch HWG's onto control points or across the map faster.

They almost always had an uber ready to assault with. I don't think they attacked hardly at all without an uber. They also co-ordinated their rushes for the maximum chaos.

Other than those two things they were really just slightly better players (and about 140ms faster than us *cough*).

yes... it was really, really rough. I was chopping all over, I would step out of a doorway and be shot before I made it out, etc. the difference between 100-150, and a team of all 5, is huge.

I remember when my friend won a trip via Mplayer to go and play the makers of Daikatana. And, he won.

Isn't the trend that the gamers are better than the people that make the games?

The downfall lies in the more or less random people all pinging 100+ against a team LAN'd pinging single digits.

        • reply
          September 26, 2007 12:35 AM

Well, Valve isn't just the people that make the games, they're people who have been playing it every single day for months and months. Robin Walker told me they've played TF2 more than any other multiplayer game they've ever published, and it hasn't even been complete all that long.

I think the shack squad (at least #1, I didn't see #2 at all) put up a fight considering the challenge. The first run on granary, shack held the last point for a bit and almost had the middle. The 4th point went quick but they held the 5th point.

On the one map I can't think of the name where it is A B C and one side is D the other side is O, the shack actually capped one side, and went flat on the other. They held one side for that map for a bit as well.

Early on there was a lack of team play it seemed. Valve was more prepared.

It won't be long until the pro-hos really take over this game. I'm sure if 12 of us worked on it for a month, we could at least stalemate Valve, but in a month I doubt we could get a rematch. Now is a good time for them to just beat the crap out of the noobs.
