Scandals! Insanity! Recent developments concerning Aspect Ratiogate 07, or the Bioshock Conspiracy to Ruin Gameplay Experiences, have certainly shed light on what now is seen as a flawed, broken mess of a game. Unplayable, some say. Possibly obscene. After hours of deliberation, Shacknews editors decided not to rescind their review of the game. It was an incredibly close call.

Today's bytes bring you a release date for Dark Sector, Cranium on Wii, ninjas invading DS, Sonic returning to shred again, and that Buzz! quiz game on PS3.

  • Dark Sector dated

    Digital Extremes' Dark Sector will retail January 22 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, D3Publisher announced today. The title features a character who can't feel pain wielding a triple-bladed boomerang-like weapon.

  • Cranium Kabookii teases brains on Wii

    Ubisoft announced Cranium Kabookii today, an internally developed title for the Wii based on the Cranium board game. The game will call on players to spray paint pictures, play songs on a xylophone, and use the included Kabookii Decoder Glasses to view secret messages displayed onscreen. The title will feature region-specific trivia for Canada, France, Spain, the UK, and the U.S. and is expected to retail this December.

  • Ninjatown ninjas stealth hug DS

    The li'l ninjas of Japanese-influenced plush toy studio Shawnimals will star in Ninjatown, a DS game slated for fall 2008, SouthPeak Games announced today. In development by Venan Entertainment and Cashmere Productions, the title will be a strategy game of sorts, with players placing tiny ninjas in strategic locations to defend the town from evildoers.

  • Sonic and friends ride again

    Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the sequel to the Sonic Team original, will hit stores in February 2008 for the PlayStation 2 and Wii. The game will feature Sonic and his pals shredding their Sonic-boards on presumably extreme tracks.

  • Sony Buzz!ing PS3s

    Sony announced Buzz!: Quiz TV for PlayStation at the Leipzig Games Convention Today. The quiz show series will make its first appearance on PlayStation 3 in March 2008, and will feature both user-generated and downloadable content, though the title will retail in stores as a Blu-ray disc with 5000 questions.
