More screenshots of Nintendo's fiercely anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) recently surfaced on the game's official website, highlighting a number of new stages, assists, returning characters, and more.

Among the new fighting arenas are The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess' Bridge of Eldin, the Donkey Kong Jungle Beat-inspired Rumble Falls, a stage based on Kid Icarus, and an Animal Crossing town, the background and lighting of which is determined by the Wii's internal clock.

A new gameplay addition is the Footstool Jump technique, allowing players to use other characters as springs to boost their leaps. Also pictured are the assist trophies, which temporarily call characters such as Dr. Wright from the SNES version of SimCity and Knuckle Joe of Kirby fame to the fight.

As for playable characters returning from past Smash Bros. incarnations, the new photos feature Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and both armored and unarmored Samus. Several grabs from a CG cutscene, presumably the game's intro sequence, were also released.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is slated to release in North America on December 3, 2007. For more media, be sure to check out the main gallery.

Not that much of news as of neat addition to the screenshot section. Interesting pick of Zelda level, and I still look forward to this game (duh..). Instead its news keep reminding me of that missing announcement of the Kid Icarus game that was rumoured for the Wii. Oh well, go go Kirby!

Yeah, a Kid Icarus game would be fucking great...that and a full-fledged Duck-Hunt game.

Yeah, I want a Kid Icarus game with those graphics and Metroid / Zelda bow shooting Wii controls.

I loved Icarus. Anther NES game that was pretty good, but, doesnt seem to get mentioned much, was Faxanadu.
Still, Metroid kicks all their asses.
