  • Get musically literate with your DS

    [ds]

Moving beyond the traditional rhythm game genre, publisher Agetec announced that it will be publishing Rhythm 'n Notes, a game that intends to teach users actual music theory. The Nintendo DS game will focus on both rhythmic and tonal aspects of music through a variety of gameplay modes, and will span from basic timekeeping and note recognition to advanced rhythms and chords. Interaction with the in-game drums and keyboards will be handled using the system's stylus and touch screen.

"Educational games that are truly fun are hard to come by," said producer Mark Johnson. "Rhythm 'n Notes gets it right with addictive, enriching play."

Rhythm 'n Notes is likely to be categorized with another Nintendo DS title that tends more to applicable musical knowledge than to rhythm game fare, Plato's upcoming guitar simulator Jam Sessions.

Agetec plans to ship Rhythm 'n Notes for Nintendo DS this fall. The company sent over several screenshots.

Currently exclusive to Xbox 360, Lost Planet will be coming to PC with DirectX 10 support this month.

If it does what they are claiming it will do, I am definitely buying this. Maybe after a Masem review first, since he owns every game in existence.

I've been waiting for a game like this since Brain Age came out for the DS. Hopefully it turns out well.
