yeah, the artwork/settings of the warcraft universe always amazes me. The only time i got to see the BWL from the original game was at a friends house. No one on my guild could do it and if they could, it was the 24/7 guild/prison, where you couldn't leave the server type stuff

so dont join a hardcore guild and you wont have to raid hardcore every night of the week, duh.. you can play the game however you want, freakin solo guildless if you want.. or do what ive done and join an active guild that doesn't demand you to be a part of raids/instance runs you can do it whenever you feel like it or have the time

The fact that some of the content in an MMO requires more than a handful of people to conquer should not be that flabbergasting, especially considering the amount of content in the game tailored to the 5-man group. Yes, the best gear takes the most work. Having the absolute best gear is not a requirement for having fun.

What's your definition of "a good chunk"? There's a shitload of PvE you can do solo or with a 5/10 man group.

too bad that sort of PvE rarely includes the kind of storytelling and dungeon design they reserve for their EQ-like endgame

You're right, Illidan should be a 5-man instance instead.

I got really burned out by Naxxramas pre-TBC. ~20 hours of raiding a week, plus the need to farm loads of stuff for resistance potions and other such buffs... it was too much. Not even the short moments of fun - the Naxxramas bosses were really well designed and were all quite a unique challenge - made up for all the boring hours of killing trashmobs, wiping, and grinding.
