Looks like the main characters from Gears of War up against some Half Life 2 critters. Goodie.

      Or Zergs, even.

Ever noticed how in games we're now going back to a very limited palette (QUAKE IS BROWN, LAWL); just shades of a colour really? I guess people find it "artsy" and "cohesive", but I'm just bored by it.

It's all in the execution. HL2 has a fairly muted palette but it is done with a clear idea and with subtlety, and I think that game looks gorgeous.

I'd call it desaturated. There are a decent amount of colours, just desaturated.

What's wrong with a color palette being "cohesive"? That should be the point.

It's not nice when it looks like you've used a 100% desaturation filter and then a colorise filter across the board is my point. No matter if it's sepia or a steely blue colour like customary. I dislike today's abundant colour matching in films too... it's just mostly overdone and exaggerated; give me some subtlety instead of ram-it-down-me-throat please.

But no, everything needs to be bleak!! and edgy!! today.
