17

Atari today announced that a Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion pack titled Mask of the Betrayer is on the way. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, which also handled development of the original game, the expansion pack will feature a new campaign, as well as new feats and spells, races, monsters, weapons, items and more. Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer will be released this Fall.

In Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, players are transported back to the Forgotten Realms shortly after the events detailed in the original Neverwinter Nights 2. Following the climactic battle against the King of Shadows, the player awakens alone and stranded deep beneath the earth. Surrounded by a horde of evil spirits, the player embarks on an epic adventure that reveals his true destiny. [...] "Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer's engrossing campaign will conclude the storyline that began in the original Neverwinter Nights 2 and focus on combat, exploration and classic D&D dungeon-crawling," said Feargus Urquhart, CEO, Obsidian Entertainment.

Being a huge NWN1 fan, NWN2 is one of the biggest let-downs of the year for me.

Has the game gotten a lot better after all the patches?

I don't think they've patched the utter shite story or combat yet. Still better than NWN1 OC.

I really need to try it again since the 1.4 patch came out, but I just don't know if I can bother with the 30-40 hours to get where I was when I stopped because of all the bugs I had to deal with.

According to the nwn2 forums they had to pull the 1.05 patch because it was causing issues with the toolset.

I was obviously pointing out what I feel to be the main flaws in the game... I forgot to add that the world feels like a bad film set (e.g. there is no sense that there is anything beyond the 1 or 2 buildings you can enter).

The story was ok, including boning elanee, she was hugging my tree if you catch my drift the trouble was the crappy ending...

The game wasn't polished enough but at least i enjoyed it

oh god i forgot about her! I hated how you couldn't refuse to take members. So many of the characters were really irritating. Why are Bioware the only people who can get western purely story led RPGs right these days?
