I have very fond memories of reading Computer Games Strategy Plus in the late 90's, and finding it superior to PC Gamer and the wretched Computer Gaming World. I stopped reading before the name change to Computer Games Magazine, though.

I own every back issue of PC Gamer and CGW from 96-2002, I absolutley adored those mags, and reading Games for Windows brought back some of those memories.

PCG lately has been about as thin as Time Magazine and it's loaded with ads.

Same here. I remember how their reviews seemed to be a lot more accurate. I can't remember the staff's names right now, but the editorials were always good too. RIP :-(

Very sad. Do you think the other ones will be able to continue on for much longer?

I don't really see the point of them anymore. A 3 month lead time to print means whatever they have is already old news on the internet. Kind of like MaximumPC, the stuff they preview is on the market by time it reaches the stands and when they knock a product for price its always gone down by then aswell. At around $8-9 for the magazine its overpriced beyond belief.

Yeah, I've been getting Games For Windows Magazine in the mail. It's basicly CGW with a redesign, it's decent but just as Biased as Playstation Official or X Box official mag.

However the whole "Treat PC Games like Console Games" thing I'm really liking.

Fuck yeah that magazine was awesome, I still have a stack of them. The best part about it wasn't the immature "boobies!", but the hilarious reviews of terrible games. I remember they even had an entire issue devoted to the worst games ever. They would print almost anything, I think that's one of the reasons they got shut down.
