IIRC - the most popular MMO on the market doesn't have an evil race and didn't have any PvP at launch. LoTRO pulls much of it's style/feel straight from WoW, and does a great job with PvE content. It has much nicer graphics and infinitely better lore.

Will it compete head-on with WoW right off? Of course not. Will it pull enough people to be a viable competitor? Let's hope so.

Did you even play WoW? Undead? PvP servers at launch?

I'll agree with you that LOTR has better lore to pull from, but the graphics are on par with about 2 years ago.

But then again, it doesn't matter. It will have a huge following of fanboys based on name recognition alone, similar to SWG. And we all know how that went.

I did play WoW in beta and after launch. I forgot about the open PvP, trying to block bad memories I guess.

There isn't a bad side though. Even the undead have noble motives...

Ok, please explain the undead's noble motives. I never heard that one before. :)

From the screens I've seen, LotRO has the best graphics, period. I still think people regularly confuse art style with graphics. WoW "graphics " are good. They're not "OMG ROXORZ!!!!" Their art style is awesome. That said, I wouldn't want LotRO to look just like WoW. The LotRO engine looks fantastic.

If you want a cartoony fantasy look, to to WoW. It's not bagging on the game. It's just a different style.

Sounds familiar. I guess we'll have to wait for the City of Mordor expansion.

You can play as a monster instead. Earn points to play bigger monsters, group with other player monsters in both instances and open areas etc... Seems reasonable to me.

Can't argue that it isn't your opinion. Welcome to the world of the minority.

Wait... You're a player who *WANTS* to be evil. What could be better than being a MONSTER that gobbles up hobbits for dinner!?

letting the player roll up a monster and play it persistantly?
